Seaside Sisters at Craft Central
June 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentWe are halfway our current exhibition, Points of The Compass, at Craft Central. If you are out enjoying the weather this week, why not join us in Clerkenwell for a dose of British seaside? The exhibition runs until Saturday (11.00am – 6.30pm each day) and includes a pop-up shop with lots of coastal themed goodies to buy. And don’t forget the Afternoon Tea Party at 2.00pm on Saturday!
For those who haven’t dropped by yet, here are a selection of images from the shop to tempt you…
With thanks to Claire our guest blogger and Seaside Sisters volunteer.
Workshops at Craft Central
June 27, 2012 at 9:24 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentYou might have noticed we are partial to a souvenir tea towel or two. So we have included a chance to print your own tea towels at our Craft Central show this Saturday.
At this workshop, you will explore vintage tea towel and textile design, and learn how to design and cut your own lino block. These will be used to print up your own set of hand printed tea towels, all designed by you! Whilst your tea towel is drying (which doesn’t take long), treat yourself to some homemade cakes, all included in the workshop.
We use a soft lino which is much easier to cut than the traditional lino you might remember from your school days. All inks are washable and non-toxic, so your finished tea towel can be used and washed. That’s if you don’t plan to frame your work of art!
Take a peek at our Facebook album to see all the fab things we made at our previous printing workshops. And you can see what we got up to at our last workshop in this little film…

Jubilee souvenir making with the Seaside Sisters
April 26, 2012 at 2:24 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentWe are gathering up red, white and blue fabrics galore for our Diamond Jubilee Souvenir workshops, part of the all day Jubilee festival in Battersea Park, curated by Hemingway Design and Clare Patey, on Sunday 3rd June.
Join us by the boating lake to screen print a parade flag to wave & keep as a souvenir, or sew a ruffle rosette to wear. You can draw on paper bunting inspired by favourite memories from the jubilee celebrations or from the past 60 years to be added to string for a display that grows over the day or make diamond charms to carry or wear. You can even go Victorian style and decorate a bicycle wheel or hoop with patriotic colours. Create giant floral signs and garlands decorated with flowers made from plastic bag strips in the style of those used in Queen Victorias Jubilee.
Tickets for the festival are available here - http://www.thamesdiamondjubileepageant.org/TicketsAndInfo.aspx
